Apple Fax Modem
Turn on the modem while holding down the button on the front panel. The modem will beep three times. Once it has beeped the third time, press the button three times in rhythm with the first three beeps. If your timing is right you will hear the modem speak digitally recorded voices of three developers saying their names. (Nice!)
Fax Center for Teleport Modems
Hold down Option and click on the words "Global Fax" in the upper left-hand corner of the window. It will then tell you some system information about your Mac.
FaxMaker for Teleport Modems
Choose "About FaxMaker..." from the Apple menu. Now click the icon in the window. The arrow pointer will change into a mouse, and a scrolling list of the developers appears.

Fax Terminal
Fax Terminal is an application that comes with the Geoport and Express Modem and is included in the Telecom package. When going to 窶廣bout Fax Terminal...窶 drag your mouse over the icon of the fax machine. You will notice your cursor has changed to a question mark. Click on the icon and you will see some credits. Holding down command will speed it up.

Teleport (In old versions the name was known as "Teleport Serial")
In the Teleport Serial Control Panel hold down Shift and click on 窶廣bout...窶. For those of you who don窶冲 have the modem it says 窶廚ouldn窶冲 find the modem窶. The button you push to clear the message says 窶廝ut I SEE One!窶. This works in versions around 2.1 (not 2.5).
ï｣ｿIn version 2.5 open the Teleport Control Panel with ResEdit and go to the STR# Resource, open ID -4048, and scroll down to string 33. It will say, "Your TelePort is on fire. Please call the local fire department."

In the Apple 1710 Monitor Software hold down Option while going to the about box. The normal about box changes from a picture of the 1710 monitor to a hammerhead shark holding a tuba with a musical note coming out. The 1710 software is only used for the 17" AV Monitor.

While running the Personal LaserWriter SC, version 7.0.1 (most likely other versions), click on the version number in the Page Setup or Print menu to see a list of credits.

While running the Personal LaserWriter SC, version 7.1 (most likely other versions), Option-click on the version number in the Page Setup or Print menu to see a list of credits.
ï｣ｿStyleWriter II Testing and Maze Egg (possibly other StyleWriters)

This egg is hard to achieve but will work with some practice. If you don't want to try any of the diagnostic tests and would like to see the maze, instead of letting go at a desired flash, keep holding down the power button until it begins to print.
Instructions:
1. Unplug the Stylewriter II.
2. Hold down the Stylewriter II's powerbutton while plugging it back into the outlet, and keep holding the button down for 15 seconds. There will be no light or any indication that the SWII is powered up.
3. Release the power button, and then hold down the button again. Let go once the Paper-jam light (orange thing) has reached a desired number of flashes for the diagnostic test you want - the tests are below. (It has been found that the number of flashes is, in some way, directly related to how long you hold down the power button before and after plug-in.)
4. It will then start a diagnostic. Only way to abort the self-test is to
push the power-button on the Stylewriter II and turn it off.ﾂ
Diagnostic tests for each number of flashes:
1 - horizontal and vertical alignment pattern, along with 50%
and 100% black pattern and nozzle-pattern at bottom (nozzle-
pattern = diagonal swash that appears on the standard test page)
2 - single hairline across top of page with vertical drop on either side.
3 - dotted hairline test, and 50% and 100% black test bands made
unidirectionally
4 - 50% gray test whole page except for white rectangle in centre
5 - single hairline at the top of the page, three black 1/2 " x 1/4"
swatches underneath hairline. Same swatches reproduced in middle of page w/o hairline
6 - single hairline at top of page with black swatch underneath it.
7 - various horizontal test patterns on top 1/4 of page at various speeds,
i.e. draft, high quality etc.
8 anp up - Prints a maze
Note: There are also on occasion the carriage return tests where it just
cycles back and forth.

While running the StyleWriter I Printer Driver, version 7.2.3 (most likely other versions), click on the version number in the Page Setup or Print Menu to see a list of credits.

StyleWriter II
While running the StyleWriter II Printer Driver, version 1.2 (most likely other versions, but not version 1.0), Option-click the version number in the Page Setup or Print menu to see some more credits.

Any StyleWriter
Release and then hold down the power button until the printer starts to print. This is a way to check the printing quality, but you will also see a picture of your printer, and maybe a company credit depending on the machine. The first StyleWriter was known as "Tabasco"

When your computer is starting up, hold down the keys cd. It will show a list of credits from the CD-ROM driver and at the bottom is a button saying "huzza!" which, once pushed, will continue your start-up process.
AppleLink CD
Select "About AppleLinkCD" and hold down the Option key. The spinning CD turns into a spinning cat's head.
